Laura Gibert is a Barcelona-born lyric coloratura soprano recognised for her expressive artistry and growing presence on the European operatic stage.
She began her musical training at the age of seven as a flautist and chorister, later making her first solo appearance at L’Auditori in Barcelona at just fourteen years old. Drawn increasingly toward vocal performance, she pursued Voice Studies at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu with tenor Eduard Giménez, while simultaneously completing a degree in Psychology at the University of Barcelona.
Laura continued her studies in London at the Royal Academy of Music, where she earned a Master of Arts degree with Distinction under the tutelage of soprano Nuccia Focile, with Joseph Middleton as her Lieder and repertoire coach. During her time in the UK, she appeared in oratorio and recital repertoire at venues including the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall.
Recent operatic highlights include her double role debut at the Saaremaa Opera Festival on the roles of Adina (L’elisir d’amore) and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi). Other roles include her performance of Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Apròpera Opera Studio, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the Palau de la Música Catalana, Anna (Nabucco) and Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) with Fundació Òpera a Catalunya, Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) with FOC Opera Studio.
Laura’s artistic achievements have been recognised through several international awards, including First Prize for Best Opera Singer at the Nomea Competition, the Silver Prize at the Amadeus International Music Awards, and Third Prize at the Concorso Lirico della Scuola Napoletana.
Alongside her operatic work, she has performed concert repertoire including Bach cantatas and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at France’s 100% Classique Festival.
She has further refined her artistry in masterclasses with renowned singers and pedagogues including Luciana Serra, Javier Camarena, Serena Sáenz, Nicole Cabell, Mariella Devia, María Bayo, and Mirna Lacambra.
